“Byhalia, Mississippi” Starts an Important Conversation at the Kennedy Center

Evan Linder has been writing plays for about 15 years, but it was only recently that his efforts were recognized when Byhalia, Mississippi earned the title of “Best New Work.” The honor comes among a flurry of other accolades from the likes of the Chicago Tribune, Broadway World, and DC Metro Theater Arts. You can catch the trending new play easily because Byhalia, Mississippi has just arrived at the Kennedy Center, and it’s staying in town until July 7th.

The play carefully balances moments of comedy and drama as the story of Jim and Laurel unfolds in a small southern town. As Jim reels from the sudden realization that Laurel has been unfaithful, complicated conversations surrounding race, fidelity, and love unfold. If you’re a fan of the theater, you won’t want to miss this important show.

Tickets start at $49.
