Have You Tried the Golden Chicken at Queen’s English?
Open since April, Queen’s English on 11th Street NW has been serving up authentic Hong Kong cuisine in an ultra-modern space. The restaurant is owned by a husband-wife duo from New York City. She runs the front of the house and he takes care of the food with what he learned from his childhood; he moved to the United States when he was 8 and learned his skills from his family.
The star of the menu is the golden chicken. This half-bird is poached with the ginger and scallion you see on the menu, but what you don’t see is that it’s then dried for a full day and only then can it be fried to order. Order a side of bok choy and sizzling asparagus, as well as one of their specialty cocktails for a perfect meal.
Queen’s English accepts reservations for the dining room online, so if you don’t want to wait you may want to make one before you leave. If you like sitting outside, they do have patio seating so you can dine under the stars – who doesn’t love that on a summer night?
